Proofhouse doesn't reach that serial range until mid-1920. The war was over in late 1918. I can't understand the government accepting contact weapons in that quantity even in 1919, much less into 1920.The serial number appears only in one place, on the right side of the frame as others have indicated. If it is no longer there, for whatever the reason, the gun is not legal to possess.
